Description

Massimo Clerico Lessona 2021100% Nebbiolo sourced from the Gorena and Leria vineyards with the intention of creating a wine that is inviting, with complexity that is not overshadowed by tannins. The grapes are de stemmed bunches, with berry selection and fermentation in temperature controlled steel tanks with selected yeasts. They experience a 15 days of submerged cap maceration, before being aged one year in smaller barrels (used) followed by one year in large botti.

Aged six months longer on its lees before bottling than the basic Bandol Rosé

Grenache represents 65% of this cuvée but mourvèdre plays an increasingly important role (25%) while Syrah (5%) and an assortment of other grape varieties (5%) complete the blend

with vines between 20 and 60 years of age

It speaks clearly of the terroir and is viscerally expressive of its impeccable fruit of origin

The results are delightful

and the Syrah from Cave des Amandiers adds ample fuel to that argument

During the “élevage” both red wines go through “delestage” and “remontage” (a technique whereby the tank is completely emptied and the wine pumped back into it on top of the layer of skins) to extract color and flavor

The dosage is minimal so as to produce a bone-dry
